The source is MIT-licensed, so building it yourself costs nothing. Mande is also coming to the App Store, with the same features in both. There are no accounts. ### Does it need an account? No. Your iPad connects straight to your Mac. ### Does it work away from home? Yes. Pair your Mac with Mande Companion and your iPad reaches it nearby on any Wi-Fi, at home, over your VPN and from anywhere. ### What Macs does it work with? Any Mac with Screen Sharing on. Mande Companion needs macOS 26. ### Which iPads? iPads with iPadOS 26 or later. iPhone is planned. ### Is it secure? Sign-in uses Apple's own protocol, and the optional SSH tunnel encrypts the whole session with a pinned host key. Your passwords stay in the Keychain.
